Begin with six steps that separate terminology, credentials, transactions, custody, security and risk.
1. Learn the vocabulary
Wallets, addresses, keys, signatures, networks and custody are related, but they are not interchangeable. Start by learning what each word refers to.
2. Understand wallet credentials
A recovery phrase or private key can authorize control. Treat these secrets differently from an ordinary website password.
3. Trace a transaction
Learn what is prepared, what is signed, where it is broadcast, and when the result may become difficult or impossible to reverse.
4. Compare custody models
Ask who controls signing credentials, what recovery path exists, and which provider dependencies remain.
5. Build security habits
Verify domains, protect authentication factors, avoid unsolicited support and review exact signing requests.
6. Evaluate risk
Separate market volatility from technical, provider, contract, liquidity and human-error risk.
